People often ask: Do I have a creative calling?

Naturally, I reflect on this often because the central premise of The Elements Kit is that we each have a unique creative identity, and an inner compulsion, no matter how faint, to discover our true self and align with a life full of meaning and purpose.

But over the years I’ve noticed how we engulf ourselves in a fiery debate about what the idea of a 'calling' means, religiously or spiritually. It’s as though the question can only be answered if we can decide, and mutually agree on its origin, in order to validate our deep-seated feelings.

But why should proving its origins impact whether we act on the impulse and the inherent message of the question?

In simplest terms, a calling is a yearning or longing: to discover something, or make something that did not exist before. And I believe our innate compulsion drives this from imagination into ideation, and finally realisation in physical form.

Compulsion provides us with the focus and momentum to begin new activities and drive sustained activity to bring it to life. It’s the energy we use to make things real. And that’s rewarding. It’s also the essence of flow, where we find ourselves so deeply immersed in an activity that we lose all sense of time.

“I’m restless. Things are calling me away. My hair is being pulled by the stars again.”

The Elements Kit is based on the notion that we are seekers on a path of discovery, searching for acts of creativity that fulfil us. When we feel compelled, we are curiously drawn toward something ‘different’ or ‘more’. It supports our innate human desire to have, know or create.

The kit suggests that when you align your unique creative attributes into a central sweet spot, then the natural momentum of compulsion occurs - you feel inspired, motivated and activated.

The Elements Kit is an immersive system that champions our innate senses and feelings, navigating by what resonates for us and not just who we think or know ourselves to be, but who we feel ourselves to be.

The kit acknowledges Belief as its own Element category, and an integral part of feeling ‘whole’ as a human. It’s useful for us to ask: in what or whom do I believe? And we’re entitled to make our own choice. Even if we’re unsure, or we believe in nothing beyond human reality, it’s important to understand our personal stance.

But no matter what we believe, and whether the origin of a calling is collective consciousness, a God, spirit, angel or doctrine, it’s worth paying our respects to its compelling invitation. I believe it's our blessing and birthright as a human individual.

Honour the impulse. It might just lead you home.

Q.

When did you last experience such strong compulsion
that action felt almost effortless?
